EX MINISTER ELDER ORUBEBE AND OTHERS ACQUITTED OF N1.97BILLION CONTRACT SCAM


Justice Olukayode Adeniyi has today struck out a six count charge leveled against former Minister Elder Godsday Orubebe. The charges which was brought against the ex minister, borders on an alleged involvement in a contract fraud.
The Independent Corrupt Practices And Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) had alleged that Elder Orubebe was involved in a N1.97Billion contract scam while overseeing the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs during former President Jonathan era.

iCPC  withdrew the six count charges on a day the court demanded that the proscecutor bring forward their witnesses to ascertain Orubebe complicity in the diversion of the fund billed for compensation of the property owners on Eket Urban Section of the East West Road in Eket Akwa Ibom State.
Elder Orubebe was not alone in the charges as other people were joined, we have the Assistant Director of the ministry of Niger Delta Affairs Mr Oludare Davis Alaba and the Director of Contracts Gilto Costruzioni Generali Nig. Ltd Mr Ephrain Towede Zari.
Justice Adeniyi discharged and acquitted the defendants due to the withdrawal of the six count charges by the Anti graft Agency.
