ASLAT: The New Face Of Lagos Artisan And Technicians

Artisans and Technicians have launched a new body in Lagos on Tuesday. During his welcoming address at the event the President EXCO ASLAT, Engineer Lawrence Ajayi said the main purpose of the event is to officially introduce to the world Association of Lagos Artisan and Technicians (ASLAT). According to him; Association of Lagos Artisan and Technicians (ASLAT) is intermarriage and interbreeding of different artisans/technicians bodies and associations in Lagos State. With nine pioneer association members, ASLAT sought for registration with Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) in August 2016 and was duly registered and awarded certificate of registration as corporate entity in Nigeria in October 2017 and currently have eleven (11) members. Allegations Against SARS: NHRC Commences Public Hearing.

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has commenced public hearing into cases of alleged human right violations against the Nigerian Police Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in the FCT. The Acting Executive Secretary of the Commission Mrs Oti Ovrawah revealed that the idea of the public hearing was conceived from numerous complaints received by the Commission on the activities of the Police (SARS). She said the complaints bothered basically on human rights violations like torture, threat to life, access to justice, inhuman and degrading treatment among other things. Mrs ovrawah emphasized that in fulfilling its statutory mandate of promotion, protection and enforcement of human rights in Nigeria, and in line with its standing order and rules of procedure, holding a public hearing on such complaints became necessary in order to adequately address the human rights concerns.
