TRIBUTES POURING IN FOR OUR LATE PERICOMA OF ARONDIZUOGU (ICHIE MEZUO OKOYE NWANKWO.
On behalf of the entire Ndiogbunyeoma kingdom of
Arondizuogu, I join the entire Arondizuogu clan and Igboland to mourn your
death. May the Almighty God comfort all your immediate family and grant them
the grace to bear the irreparable loss. Father we plead for your forgiveness
and remission of sins, grant him peaceful passage.
Adieu Ichie Mezuo until we meet to part no more.
Amen.
HRH Awada Ogbuonyeoma Inocent Mbanefo.
Chief Amb Ikenna Aniche (Nke nke Enyi). ICHIE
MEZUO IS A fine antique reservoir of Igbo tradition laced with beautiful prose’s
depicting intense competitions and triumphs handed down to us and future
generations through music in war songs and danceable rhythms. He will NEVER be
replaced. Farewell Great man.
Chief Goddy Okereke.{Chinyreugo Arondizuogu} What
a great lost! What an irreparable! My association with you started with my promotion,
in IBS Radio, Mjima Music Group of Aba, where your golden voice first hinted of
your potentials as a powerhouse of "egwu mmanwu". I was not surprised
when Osisikankwu, Mazi Monday Maduka, in company of some
others, called me out from the continuity studio of IBS a few months later to
hand me an album by you with a plea for its promotion by me on radio. I went
extra miles in doing that, not only out of patriotism as a son of
Arondizuogu, but also because my teaming listeners fell in love with Periccomo
and his brand of music. "Goddy Mara ka I so egbu oja, maka na nti na-afu m
ufu!" Nnamdi Olebara and Okechukwu Ekene, both colleagues at IBS often
teased whenever we met because of my addiction to playing of Perccomo tunes in
my radio programs. Your mesmerizing music has, not only entertained the world,
but has popularized Arondizuogu. We shall miss another hit from our Ichie
Mezuo, our dear Periccomo Okoye, the ambassador extraordinary, this coming
Ijegi Festival. A vacuum has been created, a vacuum too hard to fill. Goodnight
Ichie Periccomo Okoye, one nwa Arondizuogu.
Mazi Emma Offor (Chairman ADF) Farewell Ichie
Mezuo, you have played your part Ndizuogu will never forget you in a hurry.
Your life was a perfect example of self-made man.
Like they saying goes "Don't wait for
extraordinary opportunities. Seize common occasions and make them great. Weak
men wait for opportunities; strong men make them".
At the time you turned masquerade music into a
huge commercial success, many never expected or believed it will turn out the
way it did.
You gave it all you got....your entire life.
"Take up 1 idea. Make that 1 idea your life,
think it, dream it, live it. Let the brain, and every part of your body, be
full of that idea. Thats the way to success".
You did exactly just that with your music and
achieved greatness.
Jee nke oma Ichie Pericoma!
Adamazi Nelly Agwu (Ihekerenma).OMG Chai Chai.
This is Sad. Onwusa ogwa. The end of an Era. The life you touched with your
Music and fanfare will miss you. Arondizuogu an Iroko has fallen. May we Pray

Traditional music. I can also attest to the fact he wanted to serve God at the
tail end of this journey. The people of Ugwueke in Bende LGA of Abia state will

2003. Ichie Mezuo la nu Udo. Chukwu dokwa mkpuru Obi huu.

Mazi Osita Nwosu. The death of Pericoma
Okoye.....the legendary Traditional Cultural Prime Minister of Igboland can
neither go unnoticed, unsung or unwept.
We have every reason to weep this day as he
proffesied in one of his songs that at his exit...he feared if his
legacies would be sustained.

Igboland and in the Country.
