NIGERIAS MINISTER OF YOUTH AND SPORTS DEVELOPMENT, SOLOMON DALUNG SEEKS MORE YOUTHS ENGAGEMENTS FROM THE DIASPORA


Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Solomon Dalung have urged eminent Nigerians home and abroad to encourage programmes targeted at inspiring young people to greatness.
The Minister disclosed this in Abuja when he was decorated as a Patron of the Nigerians in the Diaspora Mentoring Corps, (NIDMECORP) by its Commandant General, Alistair Soyode.

Dalung who emphasized on the need for young people to be mentored, said youths can be easily distracted and discouraged from achieving their goals if proper mentorship is not followed.
According to him, 'the problem of Nigerian youths is not poverty but poverty of knowledge'.

The Minister while calling on the youths to re-discover themselves and avoid anything that will lead them to violence and corruption, noted that there is a wide gap between the leaders and the youths. He also advocate for a rewarding system where those contributing to the nation's development especially from willing youths and children of Nigerians abroad to be in place. Such as he pointed out will encourages many towards the nation. Using same avenue, congratulates the winning female team again and shout-out to Anthony Joshua in his coming fight in London, UK wishing him successes.

Earlier, the Commandant General, NIDME CORP, Alistair Soyode while briefing the Minister on the purpose of establishing the organisation, said it is an avenue for supporting Nigeria's development in terms of capacity building, mentoring, coaching, educating and ensuring the responsibility of leaders are guided based on global good practise and governance. He sees Nigeria benefiting from many youths outside the Nigeria and children of passionate Nigerians especially in sports coming home to represents the nation.

"One of the main reason of NIDME Corp is to use the Diaspora whilst on holidays in Nigeria to spare their times to mentor and coach our youths or even those going into businesses or moving on the path of entrepreneurship", added Mr. Soyode
