Blunder! Nigeria Stripped Of Point By FIFA For Fielding Ineligible Player

FIFA has stripped Nigeria of the one point they earned from their final 2018 World Cup qualifier against Algeria in Constantine on November 10, after the world football body discovered that the Super Eagles fielded an ineligible player, Shehu Abdullahi. FIFA also fined the Nigeria Football Federation 6,000 Swiss Francs (about N2,162, 923) for the development. The Eagles had secured Russia 2018 qualification with 13 points in their first five matches, with the bottom-place Algerians eliminated, thus making the game in Constantine, which ended 1-1, a dead rubber. But FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee stated that Anorthosis Famagusta right-back Abdullahi failed to serve a one-match suspension after being cautioned in two separate games during the qualifiers, and awarded 3-0 in favour of the Desert Foxes. Abuja: Thirty Two Special Anti - Robbery Squad (SARS) Arrested And Detained With Lagos State Having The Highest Detainees.

At least 32 operatives of the special anti-robbery squad (SARS) are currently in detention, according to report. A source said that the arrested officers were moved to Abuja from different state commands during the weekend. "The suspects, who are all male, are now being held at various detention cells of the Federal SARS at Guzape District Abuja,” the source said. "Since their arrival in Abuja, their family members and lawyers have not been allowed to see them based on an order from above.” Idris, inspector-general of police, who reportedly ordered their arrests, is said to have assembled a team of top police investigators to look into their cases. It was learnt that they are being investigated for cases ranging from extortion, robbery, rape, among others. The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Tuesday warned prospective candidates for the 2018 UTME to be wary of fake past questions in CDs being circulated in the country. The board made the call in a statement, signed by Mr Fabian Benjamin, the Head of Media, made available to the newsmen in Abuja. JAMB, while disassociating itself from the circulated papers, said that the items were “intended to dupe unsuspecting candidates’’. “The fake past questions in CD Rom entitled; “JAMB PRO CBT practice software for UTME” was purported to have emanated from JAMB in other to give credence to the products. “This is also made by the producers to perpetuate their nefarious activities. “JAMB wishes to dissociate itself from the production and sale of the fake CDs and warned the public to be vigilant and avoid being defrauded. An Awka High Court, presided over by Justice Dennis Mmaduechesi on Monday adjourned till March 12, 2018 for a pre-trial conference on a matter involving Bianca, the widow of the late Igbo leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu and others over the family property. The case involved the sharing of the late Sir Louis Ojukwu’s property. Sir Louis Ojukwu, who died in 1966, was the father of late Dim Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu, the defunct Biafra secessionists’ leader Mr. Aloysius Ojukwu and his brother, Mr. Jude Ojukwu, had instituted the suit in 2014 against Dr. Joseph Ojukwu, Dr. Ike Ojukwu, Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu and Mr. Lotenna Ojukwu. When the matter was called up on Monday, counsel for the plaintiff, Mr. Ikenna Egbuna, (SAN), represented by Mr. Chuka Anatogu, informed the court that he was just served with a motion which would require sometime to reply. Condom Advertisements On Television Banned In India.

India has slapped a nationwide ban on television advertisement for condoms during prime time hours, citing rules prohibiting “vulgar” content and concerns over children viewing salacious material. The information and broadcasting ministry ordered India’s estimated 900 television channels to restrict condom commercials to between 10pm and 6am, threatening repercussions if the ads fall outside graveyard hours. “All TV channels are hereby advised not to telecast the advertisements of condoms which are (a) for particular age group and could be indecent for viewing by children,” the order said Monday. It also cited broadcasting regulations prohibiting “indecent, vulgar, suggestive, repulsive or offensive themes”.
