Nigeria Former Minister Of Education Mrs Oby Ezekwesili Indicts The Male Political Elites For Poor State Of Affairs In Nigeria And Africa.

A former Vice-President of the World Bank and former Minister of Education, Mrs. Oby Ezekwesili, has said that male political leaders are to blame for the poor state of affairs in Nigeria and Africa. She noted that women have had only a “marginal role to play in the poor governance that has bedevilled the continent.” She therefore stressed that there was the need to have more women at all levels of government and good representation at all arms of government; executive, legislature and judiciary. Ezekwesili, who was the keynote speaker at the maiden edition of the HID Awolowo Foundation annual lecture in Lagos on Tuesday, said research had shown that in Africa, only five per cent of women were chief executive officers, 22 per cent of women were cabinet members, 25 per cent were parliamentarians while 29 per cent were managers. Overspeeding Driver Crushed To Death An Officer Of The FRSC In Ondo State, Nigeria.

It was a painful and avoidable death for an officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mr Sehinde Abolosoro in Ondo State as he met his untimely death in a road accident last weekend by an Over speeding driver who lost control of his car. According to Sahara Reporters, the 36yrs old officer was crushed to death on the busy Ilesha - Akure while performing his official duty. The deceased who as at time of death was the Deputy Route Commander (DRC) in the Ondo Sector Command was killed after checking and passing some Vehicles. He died few minutes after being crushed by the road side. The incident happened when the driver was trying to avoid a big truck and in the confusion veered off the road to kill the officer who was controlling vehicles. Late Sehinde brother, Dare Abolosoro confirmed the sad news on phone. Terror Attack On Egypt Mosque Claims At Least 235 Worshippers.

Islamist militants attacked a crowded mosque in Egypt Friday, killing at least 235 people and wounding 125 so far, according to state media. Gunfire and the explosions of bombs ripped through the Sufi al-Rawdah mosque on Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula, 125 miles northeast of Cairo. An Egyptian military official said a single suicide bomber participated in the attack. A senior government official told state television, “the attackers lingered at the scene even as emergency workers arrived to treat the injured, and opened fire on several ambulances,” according to the New York Times. While there was no immediate claim of responsibility, the country has battled with an ISIS affiliate based in the Sinai Peninsula, which has launched attacks in the country, usually on Coptic Christian churches. “The insurgency gathered momentum after a military coup in 2013 that ousted Mohamed Morsi, Egypt’s first democratically elected president and a leader of the Islamist Muslim Brotherhood,” according to the ...
